James was one of three McAlinden brothers from Wexford who attended the College in the 40's, alongside his brothers Joseph, class '43 and John, class '47. All were very popular students and James excelled in his time here - witness his College Medal awards in 1944 and again in 1945 when he secured NUI Matriculation and was also house prefect. After College James settled in the UK where he was a stalwart of the London branch of the Union. Accounting was his chosen profession but music was his great love. The Royal College of Music in London has lost a loyal benefactor and we have lost a good friend. He will be sadly missed.
On behalf of the wider Vincentian community, the Union extends heartfelt condolences to his family.
Requiescat in Pace.
