Union Doubles Tennis Tournament
The 9th annual Castleknock College Union past pupils Doubles Tennis Tournament was once again held on Friday the 5th of October in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club. Despite the change from the summer to autumn the weather was excellent and made for excellent conditions to play tennis and a very enjoyable day.
As in previous years the tournament was organised in two separately graded groups, and was followed with dinner and presentations in the clubhouse. There were around 28 players from across the country (and the years!) with a number of new faces that was great to see. Once again the top two teams in both sections playing a best of 9 games to decide the final!
After two excellent finals the worthy winners in Group 1 were John Austin and Rob Kealy who had a very close match in the final with Graham Jenkinson and James Callery.
The Group 2 final was equally close with Ian Garrigan and David Clarke beating Robert Dowley and David Bell in the final.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to play, to those who came for the dinner and also thanks to Fitzwilliam LTC for allowing use of the courts on a busy Friday afternoon and for the lovely meal afterwards.
