Union Dinner 1997
College Refectory
Union President 1997, Paul MacQuillan
The Annual Dinner was held in the College on Friday October 31st, 1997. It was the most successful dinner of recent times with over one hundred and sixteen people attending.
Union President Paul MacQuillan presided and his guests included Rev. Fr. Kevin O'Shea, President of the College, Geraldine Corrigan, John Cooney, Andrew McGeady, Rev. Paddy O'Donoghue, Stewart Harrington and Michael Collins.
Two new departures from the format of previous dinners were implemented. For the first time, at the suggestion of the President elect John Fitzpatrick, the bar and the dining area were both housed in the refectory and it proved to be a most successful move.
Also to encourage Junior members appropriate blazer, bow tie, and grey flannels were considered suitable attire rather than formal Dinner Jacket.
The Caterers, Boston Dinner Party again provided us with fine fare and because of the day that was in it, Barm Brack was served with the desert.
