Devin Toner, class '04, first Rugby "cap"
Where are they now
Congratulations and the very best of luck to Devin on winning his first Senior International cap in the second row against Samoa this Saturday. Devin will be partnered by the experienced Donncha O’Callaghan and they will be supporting a new front row of Tom Court, Sean Cronin and John Hayes.
After finishing Castleknock College, Devin continued his rugby with Lansdowne before becoming a professional rugby player and current member of the Leinster Rugby team and an Ireland A international. Devin also represented Ireland at U19 and U21 level, and has all the physical attributes to compete at the highest level. At nearly 6 ft 11 and tipping the scales at just under 19 stone, Devin is arguably the tallest Irish rugby player and a genuine lineout threat to any opposing team.
Quote from Devin on the Leinster Rugby website…..
“I’m delighted. Over the moon. I’m just excited now and looking forward to the game. I was in a little bit of shock when I found out after training on Tuesday. I have been involved in squads before and I was hoping to be called up but I’m very pleased to be selected. I’d like to see myself as a bit of a ‘lineout man’ but I’m not going to leave any stone unturned this weekend.”
Best of luck Devin … and give ‘em hell!
