'70 in Carrick-on-Shannon for 40th Reunion
Photo Gallery
24th September 2010: Class of 1970 descended on Carrick-on-Shannon, Co.Leitrim for a weekend of merriment to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the graduating of a fine bunch of mature (ahem!) young adults from Castleknock College. Approximately half the class turned up for a most enjoyable reunion weekend.
The weekend kicked off with a golf outing wonderfully organised by Paddy Dore who managed the scorecards and kept us all wondering on the winner until the end. The winner was Paddy Dore (no, seriously!). After a long Friday night sampling the hospitality of the local taverns, Saturday was spent on a number of activities including a most enjoyable visit to the Arigna Mines and Strokestown House and (yet more) golf. The festivities recommenced that evening with dinner and drinks in the Bush Hotel. A great night was had by all - for some which included a brief walking tour of the locality - and all vowed to return for the next reunion in 2015!! A special acknowledgement to David Gleeson who travelled from Australia, Tom ‘Elvis’ Cheevers and Tim Connolly who travelled from Canada, and all those who travelled from the UK for the reunion. Finally thanks to the committee for organising a great weekend; namely David Brennan, Declan Burke, Paddy Dore, Dave Lyons and Mick McDermott.
Now, one more time… Tango, Tango, Walla…
