2023 Annual Tennis Review

The Annual Castleknock College Union Pastmens' Doubles Tennis Tournament returned for its first outing since Covid held in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club on Friday the 13th of October . This was the rearranged date after Storm Agnes put pay to the September 15th outing.

As in previous years the tournament was organised in two graded groups and was followed with dinner and presentations in the clubhouse. There were around 20 players from across the country (and the years!) with more than ten missing the rearranged date as they were in Paris for the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final.

There was a tie for first place James Fitzsimons (class '81) and his playing partner Jim Rafferty (class '80) with Alex Corcoran (class '95) and his play partner Kevin Rafferty (class '81). In second was the organiser BJ MacDonald (class '95) and our Hon. Treasurer Ian Garrigan (class '09). In third was Gerry Cleary Jnr (class '77) and our Union President Bobby Geraghty (class '94).

Thanks to everyone who turned up to play, to those who came for the dinner and also thanks to Fitzwilliam LTC for allowing the use of the courts on a busy Friday afternoon and for the lovely meal afterwards.
