2010 Munster Dinner
Photo Gallery
Nearly 50 pastmen (from years 1938 to1987!) enjoyed a fantastic night in Sunday’s Well Boating and Tennis Club, Cork on Friday 17th September.
We enjoyed a friendly welcome from Michael and all the staff in Sunday’s Well and a champagne reception upon arrival. After renewing old acquaintances on the deck overlooking the Lee, we were ushered into the dining room where we enjoyed a wonderful three-course dinner, cooked to order, that was widely complimented on the night. Selections of photographs from the last 175 years were on display and each pastman attending received a CD containing 570 photographs plus a commemorative menu. We were very happy to welcome Fr Peter Slevin CM, President of the College, who updated us with news of the College. We were also delighted to see Ron McCarten and Fr Jack Harris CM (who happens to be the Parish Priest in St Vincent’s, Sundays Well) both of whom would have taught a large number of the pastmen in attendance. There were a number of presentations to various pastmen that were very well received even causing a chorus of “we are the boys of SVC “at one stage! After dinner, most pastmen stayed to continue the chat and the stories until the “wee hours”!
The Union would like to thank Mark Nolan, ably aided and abetted by David Donegan, for all their effort in putting the celebration evening together and the general consensus was that the event should be repeated again next year when hopefully more pastmen, many of whom sent their apologies, will be able to make it.
